THE 'TONNARA' - TUNNERY AND THE FARAGLIONI (STACKS) OF SCOPELLO FOLLOWED, BY THE BAGLIO (inside the hamlet) FOR A TASTY DISCOVERY

Set on the coast, like a precious gem, Scopello is a slice of heaven

The 'Tonnara'- tunnery of Scopello is one of the most important and oldest in Sicily. Set on the coast that goes from Castellammare del Golfo to San Vito lo Capo, it is a part of the territory that is well worth a visit which offers crystal clear waters and unique views. Considered a real slice of heaven, it is only a few minutes by car from the Hotel Sopra le Mura. Once at your destination it will be difficult not to be enchanted by the majesty of the stacks, which at night and during the day turn the landscape into a real fairy tale on the sea.

A few minutes' drive from the 'Tonnara'- tunnery of Scopello and its stacks is the small 'Borgo' of Scopello, a delightful village in a seventeenth-century 'baglio'. During the day Scopello village is great for a coffee, a lemon granita or a homemade ice cream, while in the evening it is a magnificent location to enjoy an unforgettable dinner among the colours and flavours of Sicily, with the scent of citrus fruits, the freshness of the fish and the sublime taste of traditional desserts.

CLEAN SEA WITH A BLUE FLAG

When in Scopello a gastronomic experience well worth trying, is the well-known "cunzato" bread: freshly baked bread seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, tomatoes, anchovies and local cheese served inside the 'Baglio'. Sicilians are really generous so be ready to accept big portions!

Scopello together with the whole of the northern coast of Trapani is among the places annually awarded with the five blue flags. The quality and cleanliness of the crystal clear waters are visible to the naked eye and have been awarded a blue flag by the 'Legambiente'

The sea of Scopello with its 7 km of coastline is full of places to swim or to dive into the depths of the sea; Faraglioni beach, Guidaloca beach, Cala Bianca and Cala mazza di Sciacca are delightful coves surrounded by nature, where sand, gravel and rocks alternate with the vegetation of the Mediterranean in perfect harmony.

Staying all day will not be a problem, on the beach there are Lidos which have a restaurant, bar, umbrella and sun loungers.
